MEDITATION: AWAKENED MIND AS SIMPLE PRESENCE

A weekly group in Primrose Hill NW3 for beginners and experienced meditators.

The everyday mind thinks it has to be complicated, but stepping out of time is so simple, so effortless, you are doing it before you know it.

Meditation can be practiced in many ways, and different techniques create different patterns in our brainwaves. Being fully present with awakened mind is paradoxically the simplest form of meditation and yet the most difficult because the brain thinks more should be happening, and so creates feelings of unease or even frustration.

Simply resting the body in stillness with open eyes liberates the mind from its internal noise and naturally turns awareness away from its endless focus on self. As soon as the mind stops demanding 'results' it starts to open up like a flower to the amazing richness of the timeless state. Quietly, easily, one sees through the folds of time and starts to perceive with heart consciousness in spontaneous inner silence.

Once the awakened mind is active, we can practice with eyes open or closed; resting in the clarity of non-controlling awareness, whatever is present becomes part of the simple flow of consciousness. Tensions dissolve into new energy, insights and peace.
